VR 3x3: A different "Boy"

For our last assignment, we all gathered in groups to work on this VR project, and Akin and Marly are my teammates for this last assignment challenge.

Of all the given character references, we all choose the one that the most resonated with our creativity:

The well-known Astro Boy!

But we all decided to twist everything and recreate a new character from scratch.

Plot

In a not too distant future, a well-known doctor who is also a great scientist creates a robot to assist him during his surgeries, but in reality, he also made him so he could be protected from those who want to end his life just to take his immortal heart that he created himself. One day, the doctor's nightmare becomes true and ends up dying, with his heart now destroyed in 5 pieces.

The robot, who saved the body of the doctor by hibernating it in one of his old labs, manages to recuperate the pieces and wants to revive the doctors, but to let the heart work, he must collect one more piece, the emotions.

In the attempt of collecting them, he also must hide from who wants to own him, since he's one of the few and most advanced robot AI in the entire world, so he decided to build a simple shop on top of the lab to blend into the society and still be able to collect the final missing piece in a very particular way: transform peoples heart filled with emotions into threads, so he can then stitch them onto the heart and the doctor.

But how does he get people?

Easy!

The shop sells any kind of needed emotions to humans, and when it's full, the robot guides the unfortunate customer in the lab, where he kills them and eventually becomes the new identity of the robot, perfect for hiding and work without too many inconveniences!

We all imagined the shop to be similar to a spacious but well-lighted clothes shop, combined with something aesthetically pleasing and calming like a herbal shop. A place where the customer can gladly spend time inside, and still come out more relaxed and with a sense of peace or even happiness!

Concept, 2D and 3D

In order to attract customers, some usable emotion threads (mainly gold, filled with peaceful happiness), are being placed all over the shop walls or shelves, while others are being fused with clothes and other products.

The lighting is slightly inspired by the Astro Boy's jets, which in this shop can not only work as main and emergency light but also provide heating for the whole shop.

Last but not least, the round shelf near the main counter is actually a self-checkout for customers, so they can either order the product they want from there or they just quickly pay for their items.

Un fortunately, the concept didn't really evolve in what we were hoping with further assets and details, but at the same time, we still tried to make something in 3D.
